Fråga: |
In practical terms, how can I apply for a student flat through the Housing Service? |
|
Svar: |
If you join the housing queue via the Housing Service’s website, confirmation of your registration will be immediately sent to your e-mail address. This confirmation will also contain a link to create a password. You use your password to log on to the internet service My Pages. Through My Pages, you can view available flats and notify your interest. Each vacant student flat is usually advertised for one week. You must actively notify your interest in vacant flats that are of interest to you.
If you are one of the applicants with the longest queuing time, you will receive a request asking you to accept or decline the flat.
You have to inform us if you decline the flat, or your case will be blocked from notifying interest in other flats. You can say no as many times as you want without it affecting your queuing time.
If you choose to accept the flat, this always constitutes a serious request to live in the flat. If you are the person who has the longest queue time of those who have registered acceptance of the flat, one of our administrators will send you an e-mail, asking you to send in certificates that prof that you are a full time student. Sometimes we will call you. The administrator checks that your submitted information is correct. You must have specified the name of the institute at which you are studying and be able to provide proof of this. If you have notified interest in other flats they will be cancelled.
The Housing Service will then send your details to the housing company. The housing company will contact you if they accept you as a tenant or not.
If you, on repeated occasions within a period of one year, withdraw your registration of acceptance after being forwarded as a proposed tenant, you will be blocked from registering new notifications of interest for the following six months.

Fråga: |
What happens to my queuing time at the Housing Service if I get a student flat? |
|
Svar: |
Since a student flat counts as temporary housing, you maintain your queuing time at the Housing Service if you get a contract for a student flat. This means that you can accumulate queuing time with the Housing Service while you live in a student flat.
Please note that you will lose your Svenska Bostäder och Vasakronan queue time if you get a contract for a student flat using your queue time in Svenska Bostäder’s or Vasakronan´s student queue |

Fråga: |

Fråga: |
How will the system work for me if I have a queue time in Svenska Bostäder’s and/or Vasakronan´s queue? |
|
Svar: |
You will have two or three queuing times during an overlap period, one based on the day you registered with the Housing Service and one (or two) based on your queuing time at Svenska Bostäder´s and/or Vasakronan´s queue.
In 2010, 80 percent of Svenska Bostäder’s and Vasakronan´s available student flats were earmarked for allocation to those who have queuing time with Svenska Bostäder and Vasakronan. In 2011 that figure will be 50 percent. After that, Svenska Bostäder’s and Vasakronan´s queues will be discontinued for allocation. All allocation of available student flats will thereafter go through the Housing Service queue. |

Fråga: |
Can I apply for student housing although I have not turned 18? |
|
Svar: |
You can apply for housing when you turn 18. Exceptions exist for individuals with children or those who can prove that they are pregnant.
If you have been in Svenska Bostäder’s queue prior to turning 18, this time will continue to be considered. You will be able to include this queue time when you turn 18 and join the housing queue. This time can only be considered when applying for a student flat in Svenska Bostäder’s queue at the Housing Service. For student flats applied for via the Housing Service’s queue, the queue time from when you registered with the Housing Service will apply.
If your 18th birthday is later than the 1st of March 2010, you will be excluded from the rule that states that you must have registered with the Housing Service not later than 1 March. |
